Fashion mums get ready for your 15 minutes of fame. Motherhood is on trend and you can wear it on your sleeves, emblazoned across your chest or your favourite bag. Your child or bump is the ‘it’ accessory. Which means, this Mothers’ Day, being a mum is de la mode, not matronly – it rocks!
Last week, Dolce & Gabbana sent out their AW15 ‘Viva La Mamma’ collection to a backdrop of mothers and children. Models strutted with their babes in arms or mini mes in matching outfits, with model Bianca Balti cheerily rocking her bump. Gorgeously decadent clothes were embroidered with messages of motherly love with silks printed and embroidered with children’s drawings, giving the impression of little ones being let loose with a box of crayons.

Over the last year, we’ve seen the Angelina Jolie wed in Versace x Jolie Pitt kids and Kim Kardashian toting an Hermes bag with baby North’s artwork on. While I’m unconvinced by the outcome of either, I do think there is something in including our kids’ creativity in our wardrobes. I have a couple of boxy T-shirts and a gorgeous oversized scarf i intend to let MG loose on with some fabric pens and paints. The results will be shared soon and you can decide whether to cry in laughter and sympathy or adoration.
